Bri Berlay is the Brassiest of the Brassiest. The princess of the Lower East Side. A true performer with the style and brass required for stardom, she is a high-fashion hood-rat from the dirty downtown streets of New York City.
Berlay is a self-made indie artist to the core, running her show and maintaining creative control. Her sound mixes trap, ghetto house, and breakbeat influences and her brand is exclusive and high-end. She rolls in with her signature two braids and cornrows, perfect nails, and white gold everywhere.
She recently released a new hot track entitled “Party by Myself” and we asked her a few questions about herself and the new track. Here is what she had to say below:
Q: Can you please tell our readers your real name as well as your stage name?
A: My stage name is my real name, Bri Berlay, my full name is Bryanna Berlay
Q: Where are you from and Where are you based?
A: I’m from the Lower East Side, New York City; based out of the Lower East Side, New York City. I was born in Detroit but I only lived there for a year after I was born.
Q: At What age did you start making music?
A: I’ve been a performer for as long as I can remember. I started making electronic music right after I graduated high school, so 18 or 19 probably. That was real beginner stuff, but looking back I was wild, mixing 90s rap with 70s disco. Real obscure stuff that was funky and hard at the same time.
Q: What genre of music do you love? Or what genre would you consider yourself?
(e.g- Rock? Blues? Hip-Hop? RnB?)
A: I love electronic rage music. Dance, booty bass bangerz that are not overproduced, I like minimal sounds and gaps in the music. Probably why I mess with Baltimore-Club music because you can dance as hard as you want, it’s funky and fun. On ITunes, I have music in all categories; pop, dance, hip-hop; it varies from track to track.
Q: Tell us about your latest track or Video (what is it all about)
—–Please explain the concept or message behind it:
A: My latest track is a single called I Don’t Need Nobody Else, I Can “Party By Myself’. The concept tells us to turn up when we’re alone. We don’t need the company of others to have a good time. I love making inside jokes with myself and laughing out loud about them later. Your mind is all you really have anyway, so why not enjoy life and have the most fun as possible. Listen to it ‘Party By Myself’ here on spotify: https://open.spotify.com/album/77e6UDZspoJOmvI1JCurfP
Q: Who wrote it?
A: I wrote the lyrics and So Drove produced the beat. I recorded it with David Sisko in New York City
Q: What inspired you to write this new track
A: We’ve all heard a million songs about partying with the crew, none about partying with yourself. This track is all about YOU. Celebrate YOUR LIFE. So Drove sent me the beat and I immediately liked it, it’s campy but it stands out.
Q: Where do you get your musical inspiration?
A: First things first, the vibe and the beat. I gotta be in a fun environment, turing up with the crew, listening to a dope ass beat. Can be in the studio or anywhere really as long as the vibes are good.
Q: If you were given a chance, which Artist would you love to perform with?
A: I’m ready for the 2019 Brassiest Based Goddiest World Tour Lil B X Bri Berlay
Q: Where can fans find you? List all your social media links
