The 47-year-old rapper Shawn Carter aka Jay-Z was honoured at the 48th annual songwriter hall of fame induction and Award, where he became the first rapper inducted into the reputable organisation.
Meanwhile, former U.S President Barrack Obama recorded a video praising Jay-Z for been the first rapper inducted into the songwriter hall of fame, He said “Nobody who met us as younger men would have expected us to be where we are today. You know what it’s like not to have a father around, you know what it’s like not to come from much, and to know people who didn’t get the same breaks that we did. So we try to prop open those doors of opportunity so that it’s a little easier for those who come up behind us to succeed as well,” he said in a recorded video which earned him an applause from the audience in Newyork.
Jay-Z also gave a thankful message to his fans for their love and supports though he wasn’t in attendance source revealed that he was seen entering a Los Angeles hospital alongside with his daughter Blue Ivy. Despite not showing up Jay-Z tweeted “Thank you to all the people that have inspired me,” he wrote, before citing names such as Busta Rhymes, 50 Cent and Snoop Dogg. Realising he had forgotten to give shout-outs to some of his biggest influencers, Jay later wrote: “Okay I’m done. I’m deleting this app in the morning. S**t is impossible to get right. I promise I’m not drunk… Wow. I just realised how many fresh people the culture has… Too many..Fab, black people really magic. Mac Miller nice too though.“
Jay Z mother in law wasn’t left out she gave a congratulatory message to the rapper for the prestigious honour, she tweeted “Congrats to my amazing Son in law on this very prestigious award. Not only does he have 21 Grammys but now he’s being inducted into the songwriters Hall of Fame! Go on Shawn Carter (damn spellcheck) with your bad self !!“.
