If you love Micheal Jackson, then you gonna love “The ATIF”.  Although he is a Rock/Alt Rock artist, he has a lot of Micheal influence in his music and style.

The Atif is not only musically talented but he is extremely surgical with lyrics and words in general.  He has a way to woo you with his music and his lyrics.

So watch out for this rock star’s new track entitled “Prickly Heat”, it will definitely set you on fire.  For now read the one on one interview we had with him below:

Q: Can you please tell our readers your real name as well as your stage name?
A: Well my artist name is The ATif. My real name is Atif Ali Khan.

Q: Where are you from and Where were you based?
A: I am from Queens, NY and that’s where I am based.

Q: At What age did you start making music?
A: Started composing when I was 18 may be. I had this urge to create my own world of music and share the whirlpool inside me.

Q: What genre of music do you love? Or what genre would you consider yourself? (e.g- Rock? Blues? Hip-Hop? RnB?)
A: Rock, Alt Rock, Indie Rock and Pop Rock. I love all genres of good music. A good chord structure and melody is not a slave to style or categorization. When played raw would sound just as good.

Q: Tell us about your latest track or Video ( what is it all about)—Please explain the concept or message behind it:
A: Prickly Heat is about the desire, the passion, the urge of falling in love. How it makes you irritated, rather itchy when you find someone irresistible. Of course we have to take this as fun part. The idea is to enjoy the full spectrum and color of the emotion love.

Q: Who wrote it?
A:. I did.

Q: What inspired you to write this new track
A: I am always inspired by naughty songs. Like AC/DC Shook me all night long, Free’s Feel Like Making Love, Def Leppard’s Pour Some Sugar on me. Slide it In by White Snake. So I think using metaphors and puns are a good way to find a route between music and fun, stylistically.

Q: Where do you get your musical inspiration?
A: MJ as it might sound cliche. But I have done a full length Rock Tribute Album of his hits. Then came Phill Collins, Bryan Adams, Richard Marx, Sting, George Michael, Queen etc. I also admire works of Vangelis, Yanni, Satch and Jeff Beck.

Q: If you were given a chance, which Artist would you love to perform with?
A: I would love to perform with Steven Tyler- he has that kind of raw, venomous presence that I closely associate with. Never thought about it though but his image emerged with your question.
