If you never heard of Boombap Trap then you need to listen to Cult Canon. He will entrap you with this style of hip hop. We got a chance to interview him about his new track entitled “Seeing Clout”.
Q: Can you please tell our readers your real name as well as your stage name?
A: My name is Cult Canon, My real name is, who I use to be so I’d rather just give the name used for my creative future, instead of the one used for an angry past.
Q: Where are you from and Where were you based?
A: I was born in San Jose, Ca Raised in Rancho Cordova but I am making music straight out of sactown!
Q: At What age did you start making music?
A: I have been writing music sense I first heard Eazy E’s Boyz in the hood when I was 7 years old.
Q: What genre of music do you love? Or what genre would you consider yourself? (e.g- Rock? Blues? Hip-Hop? RnB?)
A: I’ll answer both those, I appreciate all music there isn’t a genre I least like. however I have to say I’m a hiphop baby. Oh, I would probably consider myself …… Boombap Trap.
Q: Tell us about your latest track or Video ( what is it all about)-Please explain the concept or message behind it:
A: “Seeing Clout” is a song about how everything now adays in Hip-Hop is considered “Clout chasing” and how even when you’re being yourself, just having fun, or venting, releasing anger, whatever, there will always be somebody behind you saying you’re just looking for fame. I didn’t want people to mistake me being myself, for anything else but creative passion.
Q: Who wrote it?
A:. I write all my own lyrics, It wouldn’t feel the same if I didn’t.
Q: Where do you get your musical inspiration?
A: I wanted to make a song that was catchy, cringy, but also had real feelings behind it. and I get my inspiration from venting, I have Bi-polar disorder so making music is crucial to staying sane.
Q: If you were given a chance, which Artist would you love to perform with?
A: dead or alive? Dead, hands down Xxxtentacion, amazing young artist. His passion will always be missed. Alive, there’s too many, but in this moment it’s a match up between Hozier, the artist who did “Take me to church”, or Snow Tha Product.
