When we say we have issues with authority it means we have difficulty with individuals who wield power over us.
Psychologically speaking, authorities have only as much power over us as we reflexively give them. The trouble lies in the way we feel about authority. The power we allow an authority figure to have around us affects how we feel about ourselves, in other words, the ability to change our attitudes remains in our hands. We give away our power, or we exercise it, to the degree to which we resolve those issues.
