About The Real Laww
Johnathan Lawrence Harmon, aka hip hop artist The Real Laww, is no stranger to hustle. He’s a working father, musician, co-founder of the DURM Hip Hop Summit, and member of the United States Marine Corps Reserves; his newest release, “Go to Bed,” is an ode to the complexities of his life, as well as its joys.
The Real Laww is known for his quirky approach to his art, alongside constant involvement of the Durham community; his projects have included dream sequences set in iconic locations around town, joining forces with Wool E. Bull of the Durham Bulls for a choreographed dance routine, and commissioning local artist Candy Carver to paint his entire body for his album visuals. The “Go to Bed” video is no exception. Laww drew inspiration from the hip hop cyphers at NCSU, the mystical feeling of NC swamps at dawn, and the ongoing challenges of putting his kids to sleep. Musician Mailande Moran lends her vocals to the track, and Laww’s family and friends make cameos throughout the video.

This was as of August 2011 after The Real Laww returned from another successful toward in Afghanistan as a US Marine. The Real Laww manages to make a heavenly blend and transition, whether performing alongside punk rock bands, jazz and spoken word artists.
From opening to headlining, The Real Laww cannot be denied and the energy he gives to the fans is shown when everyone is drenched in sweat after a performance and wanting more.
